Reporting to the Manufacturing Production Manager you will supervise and coordinate the day-to-day activities of the team of production laboratory chemists/technicians to oversee laboratory analysis and tests of the fragrance ingredient manufacturing processes ensuring compliance with established company procedures and other accepted methods.
This role would be based in Mt. Olive, New Jersey on a 3rd shift.
Core responsibilities:
- Accountable to the Production Manager for collaborating and streamlining of both manufacturing and distribution processes using lean and six sigma process improvement skills.
- Drive and support project teams while building core behaviors and providing guidance to the management team.
- Supervise staff to ensure that all production tasks are performed, and all machines and equipment operated, safely. Document performance and provide on-going feedback (e.g., conducting mid-year and end-year reviews), addressing behaviour and job performance issues, recommending hiring, People Management Programmes and Givaudan established Policies
- Train new workers in the organisation’s operating procedures and standards.
- Utilization of system tools, reports, and transactions within SAP to efficiently make data driven decision, look at strategic and tactical element of the long term position of production and warehouse.
- Coordinate with local SAP Regional Process Champion.
- Utilize SAP system transactional knowledge to develop root-cause analysis tools for continuous improvement and provide training to the team to help reduce re-occurring issues.
- Provide ad hoc training regarding safety and quality initiatives.
- Must be able to document all processes and changes to support quality management programs, for example ISO9001.
- Support process improvement projects within the manufacturing and distribution arena; Demonstrate core behaviors; engage all levels of the organization in continuous improvement activities.
- Provide documentation regarding project planning and work instructions.
- Prepares weekly/monthly charts to assist Manufacturing Management with communication and feedback to staff to help drive productivity improvements.
- Assists operations in training new policies, procedures, which support process and quality improvement initiatives while simultaneously assisting in reducing Operating costs ($/Kgs.) including but not limited to reducing overtime costs. Participates in special project assignments and/or interdepartmental teams as assigned.
- Responsible for coordinating with functional area leads to document, request, and facilitate changes related to site goals. Focus on cross functional alignment.
- Surveys employees in Manufacturing Department processes for quick impact continuous improvement opportunities.
You?
- Bachelor’s degree preferred (preferably Industrial Engineering).
- Relevant industry experience required – minimum 3+ years.
- Knowledge of continuous improvement principles, behavior based training.
- Familiarity with manufacturing environment/processes and ERP system specifically SAP (Warehouse management).
- Green belt Certification preferred: focus in project management in Lean and Six Sigma.
- Previous work experience in a high pressure, team oriented, and professional work environment.
- Skills in database, PowerPoint and spreadsheet applications.
- Ability to manage and effect change.
- Must understand, implement and support the core standards expressed in the ISO 9001 Quality Manual.
