About the role

Great resort memories come from many places. The sights, the sounds, the scents and, most importantly, the service. As a Bar Attendant you will be refreshing our guests with spectacular cocktails, cold beers and beautiful wines helping to deliver exceptional service and unforgettable memories!

 

Your day to day

To provide a seamless guest experience, it’s vital to assist guests with any queries about our drinks list, offering thoughtful recommendations on cocktails, wines, and beers. Ensuring guest satisfaction is key, and any complaints—no matter how minor—should be promptly communicated to a supervisor. Familiarity with the current beverage offerings allows for effective upselling, and it’s important to stay informed about promotions and out-of-stock items. Additionally, responsibly managing perishable stock through a first-in, first-out system and adhering to health and safety protocols helps maintain a safe and healthy environment for everyone at the InterContinental Hayman Island Resort.

 

What we need from you

The ideal candidate must possess a Queensland Responsible Service of Alcohol (RSA) certification and demonstrate a solid understanding of wine and beer, alongside strong cocktail knowledge. Effective time management skills are essential, as is the ability to interact positively with customers, colleagues, and third parties, representing the hotel and brand in a professional manner. A neat personal presentation is required, along with strong communication skills, including the ability to read and write in English.

Intended commencement date for this position would be the 9th of December 2024, with the role being located on Hayman Island, Queensland.

Appropriate Australian working rights are required for this role.

 

What we offer

The base hourly rate for this position is $25.05 under the Hayman Island Enterprise Agreement, working a minimum of 38 hours per week across a 7-day roster with shifts spanning from early in the morning until later at night.
