About your role
Are you looking for student placement / volunteering in creative arts and education? Gain valuable real-life experience and skills to enhance your career development whilst providing genuine expansion for our artists. The Centre of Creative Arts (COCA) is Multicap’s creative education program offering 8 modules across the Visual and Performing Arts.
The COCA Modules offered across our Hubs are:
- Textiles (sewing, weaving, costume + wearable art)
- Ceramics
- Painting (with drawing)
- Theatre (basic drama skills + physical theatre)
- Creative Movement (inc. singing/dancing)
- Collage
- Eco Art (site specific environmental practice)
- Public Art (community based practice)
As a student/volunteer you will work alongside the COCA Program Lead, COCA Facilitator and DSW staff. COCA sessions are programmed in half and full day sessions and are undertaken as a study unit of 12-week blocks.

About you – some or all!
- Significant experience/skills in one or more of the COCA modules
- Currently studying a Cert III in Individual Support, Allied Health,
- Education, Creative Industries or similar (student)
- Ability to follow directions and work with individuals and small groups
- Social, friendly and easy going – great people skills is a must!
- Compassionate and patient in nature
- Community, business and/or professional creative network
- Observant and responsive to other peoples needs
- Literacy support (artists learn time management, planning, journalling)
- Ability to adapt/modify tasks to suit learners
- Excellent communication skills including follow-up
- Ability to support focused attention
- Openness and kindness
- Problem solving skills – where there’s a will, there’s a way!

You will have or be willing to obtain the following to qualify for these roles
- Hold a current Blue Card (Working with Children)
- A NDIS Worker Screening Check (Working with Individuals with Disabilities)
- Aged 18 years and over
- Open Drivers Licence (or on Green P Plates) (students only)
